Hello all!
So yet again I am back with an update on the wedding show booth that Omega Image Photo is going to have at the 2018 The Summit Bridal Expo. As of the last update my plan had still been to construct a custom wall. I brought in all the parts needed but before I started construction it was brought to my attention the amount I was spending might be better spent on a commercially available alternative. I had initially investigated the possibility of this and found the solution to be too costly at the time. But after searching more recently it was found that the price point for a prefabricated collapsible wall for trade shows had been given more options and some of those were more efficient on pricing than I was already spending on the solution I was going to build. Thus a total pivot on strategy was needed on short notice. I looked into the walls but found that I was a little slow and that delivery of the wall might not be in my time frame for the show. Plus I needed 3 walls and was not going to be able to meet the price point I wanted for that display. So I then looked at other lighter weight options for the walls and settled on a more photographer oriented backdrop stand with weighted steel feet. These I was going to be able to get in time for the show and would be less than the expanded aluminum wall. But I ordered one of the expanded aluminum wall in the hopes that it might make it in time. As a backup of the plan I ordered 2 of the other photo backdrop walls so that no matter what my booth would still have a minimum of 2 walls and if the expanding wall made it in time I would be back at full strength and have all three display walls again!
So, the photo backdrop walls came in yesterday (Monday April 9th) and after about 15-20 minutes of looking at the parts with a goofy expression, I was able to get the idea on how they all aligned to make the wall. The idea is viable but I am concerned about longevity with too much dependence on a small machine screw securing the bottom of the upright posts from coming out of the weighted steel feet of the display. So I think with a little alteration on how the fit of the upright post is in the foot they will be better. Then this morning I got a ship notification on the aluminum expandable wall that is coming from California. It has a currently listed delivery date of Friday...yes, Friday the 13th (my kind of luck!) So as it stands right now I am proceeding on a the course that I am only going to have 2 of the walls in place at the show. But if the 3rd wall comes in I wall pivot and be ready for it as well. But the plan right now calls for the 2 walls and the table display. I have also been investigating the prop builds I am going to be doing the week this week for the table display. Now I lack display frames and a tablecloth for that table, I am trying to come to a conclusion on the table cloth. I am going between a normal cloth on the table or having a cloth top and then running a table skirt instead to add some depth to the table and maybe a little more show. Other than this my tasks left are to get the backing cloth cut down into the appropriate sizes for the walls, a trip to Micheal's for the frames and other misc pieces for the table I currently lack.
I have all of the printed materials I am going to be having in the display here at the office now and I can say without any doubt I think I am going to be happy with the cohesive nature of my branding. After all that I am hoping that folks see what I see and like what they see. This is going to be a huge event for me and the future of this business. I am going to be doing timelapse of the booth assembly and then of the show from the top corner of my booth. This way I can spot any things I need to change or adapt going forward for a better presence at these shows. The next update is going to be after the show has completed and will include photos of the display, the product lines displayed and the short TL videos. So my normal dry rant is going to have some fun things to look at for once!
Moving forward I think I am going to attempt to make this a weekly update and perhaps a weekly shoot with photos and thoughts!
